new kid, how’d you guess…

my “first day of school” photo

Performances started this weekend! We dove right in with two two-show-days in a row. It went off without a hitch for the most part. There were small hiccups, which were to be expected. There was one show-stop for about 30 seconds because the center stage doors wouldn’t open.  Other than that, the audience probably didn’t even notice any of the other rough spots.

I spent each of the four shows in the Lobby with Merch. We made more money than the Broadway production, although we have the unfair advantage of a much larger venue! 🙂

It seemed like many of the theatre goers were from Canada, which, I guess, is to be expected since Toronto is only 2 hours away and the tour isn’t scheduled to go there in its first year. It was pretty easy to identify the Canadians from their credit cards, the use of words like tuque instead of beanie, and the way they said sorry.

Speaking of Canada, I took the opportunity on our day off on Friday to bike the Greater Niagara Circle Route which I found through the Niagara cycling tourism Centere website: super helpful! The route is about 140km (87mi) of mostly dedicated bike/pedestrian paths along the waterfront. The route follows the Niagara River, past the falls, to Lake Ontario, then across to the Welland Canal, which had a series of Locks (one with a visitors center that was interesting to quickly visit), then down to the Friendship Trail just north of Lake Erie and back to the Niagara River.

Crossing over the US/Canada Border was a cool experience. I realized that it is the first international bike ride that I’ve ever done. There is a bike/pedestrian path on the South Side of the Peace Bridge with an actual line in the middle designating the border. Once I got to the Canadian side, I had to go to one of the border agents in lines with all the cars. I’m sure they thought it was odd to have a cyclist in front of them. I showed my passport and declared my cycling snacks and they let me on my way. It was a pretty easy process and well worth it to see the Falls and the other sites in the Canadian Niagara area.

Well, one more week here in Buffalo. These one-show days on Tuesday through Friday will feel like much lighter compared to these last two days. Next up, Minneapolis!

Let us know in the comments or through social media if there are any places we have to go or things we have to do/eat while we’re in Minneapolis.

Till then,

  1. Thank you for sharing the adventures.
We have a Sugarloaf mountain in Wales, that Amy went past last week, on the same day you were at Sugarloaf harbour 😮
Love that my children get to travel and see the wonders of this world.
When I visited Minneapolis it was cold and I loved the undercover heated pedestrian walkways!
    Have fun, stay warm.
